A Summer Afternoon
There's something magical about summer afternoons- warm summer air against your skin, that golden hour glow, and just the beauty of being outdoors with your children. This shoot was all about that magic.
Something this session reminded me, is how beautiful it is to capture people simply being. No posing, no pressure, just raw moments of friendship and motherhood. Scrolling through these brings me a feeling a lightness, warmth, and connection, which is exactly what I felt while photographing it.
A little more about the shoot: We found a sweet corner at the John A. Finch Arboretum in Spokane, Diana pulled through with the most charming picnic set up, bistro-style set up that looked like it came right off my Pinterest board. Ripe summer fruits, slices of home-baked cake, and charming flower baskets added such a vibrant touch to the picnic table. It was the kind of setup that feels spontaneous and effortless, and photographs like a dream.
The best part? The energy. The babies toddling through the grass, giggling, and stuffing themselves with cake, it's sweet moments like that you want to slow down and take it all in.
